Masks have been used since antiquity for both ceremonial and practical purposes, as well as in the performing arts and for entertainment. The use of masks in rituals or ceremonies is a very ancient human practice across the world. Masks have also been worn for protection, in hunting, in sports, in feasts, or in wars – or simply used as ornamentation

Material
The mask is made of buffalo leather, perfectly molded into form and shape. The inner side of the mask is lined with very soft deer leather. Both leathers are vegetable tanned. The feathers I work with are provided to me by a traditional, family owned small business in Germany. They take great care especially when it comes to preparation and sustainability. I mostly work with Pheasant and Peacock feathers.
